OBX

went to the outer banks on a scouting trip, to see what it was like, spent our time in kitty hawk at the beach, the sand there was very course and gravelly, indicative of heavy beach erosion and beach replishment from cheaper means. but, it really looked an awful lot like home on the upper texas gulf coast. it could have been anywhere between matagorda and high island. we went to a chowder cook-off which was a lot of fun, and lots of good chowder, including some red fish chowder, and tons of local clam chowders. i didnt even know they had clams in the carolinas... in the afternoon we went to jockey ridge state park, its a couple big sand dunes that make you feel like you're an extra in lawrence of arabia.
