take me back to tulsa

no pictures from this weekend's trip up to tulsa... we were going to go to chicago but the flight left at 1735 and i dont get off work til 1700 so that was impossible. so, i went to tulsa instead. its sort of wierd to go back there sometimes, because its kinda like visiting your old alma mater again. its mostly the same, but its also kinda different. we wanted to go to tsunami sushi for dinner saturday night, but apparently, it closed? which is a travesty. instead, we went to in the raw for dinner... i figured the one that wasnt on brookside would be less annoying with scenesters, but it was pretty much the same as the one on brookside, slow service, lots of annoying tulsa scenesters. we got a table right away cause we sat outside. the sushi was decent, the drinks were excellent, and the sunset on the balcony where we were sitting was lovely. then we went to my old favourite bar. Vintage. happy to see they brought out gimlets on the menu... which is nice since they were the only place that could make a decent one when i was a 1L. my friend's manhattan was subpar, which is a shame because that used to be their special drink. i like tulsa a lot, but, its not on the coast and that kind of ends it for me. but it is a great city. i wonder if i'll feel like that about norfolk in 3 years... i dont feel that way about norfolk now... there is something enchanting about tulsa, the pretty sunsets, the wide opennes, the affordibility of the place, and the hidden culture. the opera, the ballet, the art museums, and all the good restaurants. i do miss it sometimes. afterall, it's the first big american city i lived in.
