life in new orleans is crazy awesome. one night we went to coop's place, which is great and then napoleon house for a drink afterwards. and
followed that up with napoleon house for a cocktail. the next day, i saw my ship passing up the river from builders trials. i got really excited and jumped up and down pointing and saying thats my ship. thats my ship. then i pointed it out to some germans and talked to them for a while... they were confused. the steamboat natchez' fliers said it left daily... monday is a day, and they didnt have a night jazz cruise that the germans wanted to go on. i told them, welcome to louisiana... things are different here. all in german. got to practice some of that, which is nice. i'm surprised how rapidly i've been able to remember it this year... between UNITAS GOLD and randomly meeting germans in the streets.
so last weekend nathalie and her mom came to visit. i got a bunch of shrimp and we had a shrimp boil, which was fun and yummy. then saturday we wandered around town some and went on the steamboat natchez, which was fu
n. it was good to get on the water and see some of the river. after that we went and ate lunch at k-paul's louisiana kitchen. which is owned by chef paul prudhomme, a modern cajun chef. it was really y
ummy. the lunches are
"deli-style" meaning they have a limited menu and are served on paper plates. i had chicken fried steak, it was amazing.
