my second weekend in newport, i took
a weekend trip up to boston. the first thing we did in boston on saturday morning was take a duck tour of the city. the boston duck tour was significantly better than the one i did in new york... possibly the weather not being rainy, possibly the tourguide being more entertaining... and possibly because boston being a smaller peninsula, its possible to see all the sights, although, i believe the tour lasted longer than the nyc one.
boston reminded me a lot of charleston, partially because of the building styles and colonial era history (it's funny boston harps on that, when alot of those building
s were replaced by victorian and federal style buildings.) one of the cooler ones is the old city hall, was home to lots of meetings and was the former residence of the royal governor and such. not as ornate as the one in williamsburg, but its still pretty nifty. the museum inside isnt the best, but it has some interesting things, and includes a walking tour of the boston tea party for those interested. it was free for military plus a guest, so that was cool.
some of the fun things i saw in boston included the constitution (that'll be its own post), bunker hill, the old north church, boston common, the 54th massachussetts infantry memorial (the monument for the

e the movie glory famous) it is directly across from the state house... a less fun way to say state capitol building... because, well, its tiny compared to ours. it does have a gold dome though, to reflect the shiny golden future. just kidding, the old roof leaked, so they got paul revere to make it gold. spe
aking of paul revere, he pretty much had his hand in everything going on in colonial boston. he even did the copper bottom for the frigate USS CONSTITUTION.
