segovia is an hourish bus trip northish of madrid. i say northish because thats what it felt like, but i havent looked it up on a map recently. so priscilla and i took the bus on up. it was nice, because we got there, and it was like 10-15F cooler... which was glorious...
the first thing you really see when you get there is the aquaduct... which i dont know if it is or not, but it kinda looks roman, no? (even though the spaniards were buildin them in texas in the 18th century too) then you walk on through town, to the cathedral,
and down to the alcazar, thats castle to you and me. the castle is supposed to be one of the ones that walt disney modeled the castle at disneyworld/land on... (along with mad king ludwig's neuschwanstein in bavaria) i think i didnt get the really good angle of the castle that you see in guidebooks, but it's still a really cool palace. it was really fun, there was a really green patch along a
river that was an anomaly because the landscape away from the river was fairly barren, fields of wheat, the sierra, and an almost lunar landscape in places... it was beautiful, so priscilla and i wandered down to the river and walked around the green area down below the alcazar. if we would have had more time, we would have walked out into the countryside to look at the wheat fields. which would have been cool. there was a church just outside of town i wanted to walk to... it would have been uberdusty, but awesome to walk to it. priscilla and i took some amusing pictures. theres one of her shaking hands with a suit of armour, and knocking on a tower door, and one of me carrying her to aforesaid tower. segovia apparently is a big spot for roast suckling pig, so next time youre there, you should def. get some of that.
