All the world's a stage... or at least certain bits of london along the river thames.

so sunday i wandered around chelsea for a bit during the day... bought some food for lunch and dinner and then came home. i was buoyed by the fact that i was back in the saddle thesis topic wise... so at 5:55 i decided id go down to the globe theatre to watch othello. the show started at 630... i got to the globe, bought a ticket (the sign said they were sold out, but they had some seats available) my seat was right in front of the stage on the first row in the first tier of seats, you can buy cheap "seats" for i think 5 pounds that are standing room in the center... but i have this objection to standing for four hours to watch a play... the play was so-so... one of the reasons i went was because i like the actor tim mcinnerny, who was playing iaggo. however, i had problems with mcinnerny's iaggo. iaggo is a villain who contrives to kill 4 (almost 5 people). the problem is, mcinnerny is pretty much, at least to me, a comedic actor. i'll always remember him as lord percy or captain darling from the blackadder series... as lord percy he is a dimwitted nobleman in elizabethan england or captain darling, the pissed off staff officer in a world war I chateau headquarters... hardly the villainous mastermind. combine the predisposed mental image of mcinnerny as a humourous chap with the fact that he made us laugh through most of the performance... part of it was his delivery and mannerisms, but some if it might also have been the way shakespeare wrote the part too... regardless, he wasnt a convincing iaggo, but, it was cool to see. after the performance the sun was setting, so i figured i would walk along the thames to get some cool night shots... it is interesting because when you think about it, from the globe theatre to parliament seems so incredibly far, but when you actually walk it... it doesnt seem to far at all... especially when the weather is nice... it sprinkled a little bit, but nothing terribly crazy. only a stray drop or two here and there. i walked past the london eye, which was closed, and past the houses of parliament, and decided that instead of going straight to the tube stop, i went and took a picture of westminster abbey as well... my favourite picture from that night is the tower of london with the london undergroundsign.
