ive taken to taking aerial shots from the airplanes, from right to left, top to bottom, it's

budapest, the dutch coast, and then two shots of the thames east of london.
so, i should say that heathrow just got listed as one of the worst airports in the world... and you know, i havent spent much time there actually. this trip, ive flown into heathrow twice, and out of it, never. ive

been using Lond

on City Airport lately, which is nice, it only has 10 gates, and only flies to like 10 destinations, but that includes the zurich, paris, edinburgh, madrid, amsterdam, and frankfurt (i think) its very small, the passengers lounge has rows of leather seats, which is nice, its the way an airport should be, quiet, fairly efficient, theyre expanding the security checkpoint presently, so there are some small bottlenecks going through there, but small bottleneck means the first time i waited 30 seconds and the last time 5 minutes.
ive spent quite some time in airports this summer, and the main difference between an american and a european airport is the check in gates... in europe, they have gates specifically dedicated to each flight, which, i am not sure if it makes flights more efficient or not, but, i kind of think it's inefficient. i think i prefer the american way, and they do not have nearly the number of electronic check ins, i think part of it is an effort to keep employment up.
i really dont have a favourite airport in europe... i mean, ive spent alot of time in schipol, and ill spend some more time there... schipol just seems to exude 1980sness for me. i dont think the whole see buy fly thing really works, the problem is the gates change frenquently and the airport is fairly spread out (still better than frankfurt, which i refuse to use since i almost missed a flight in '01, only a lufthansa strike let me barely make my flight) st petersburg's airport isnt great, but it's not quite as dismal as i would have thought... even if parts of it did smell of urine. charles de gaulle is partially dismal, but the terminal i flew out of was actually quite nice, and they had a good selection of things, french wines, cheeses, pates, perfumes, and souvenirs from the art museums of paris... i had indulge, and i got something there for my mom. barajas in madrid isnt bad either, the new terminal 4 is nice... valencia's airport is lookin up since the america's cup... prague's airport is pretty good. but i mean, most european airports look about the same...
